Immature female and male Redstarts

Notes: Another two Redstart today, that is five altogether so far this year, best year since we

started at this site in 2009 and I got to ring both. Seems to be an exceptional year for them on

Greenham & Crookham Common this year, probably at least eight different birds reported

around the common yesterday. The first Reed Bunting of the season, we shall be looking out

for Redwings in about 15 days’ time!

Weather: bright sunny, hot calm early breezy later.

Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs

Lures (audio): (BC-CC-WW-GW-WH-LW-GC-FC), (W-WC-SF-RZ-TP-WY), (GH-RW-SW-RB-AW), (RT-YB)

intermittently.

Recaptures: (none)

Sightings: Fairly quiet over the heath. Probably the notable species being the adult male Sparrowhawk possibly attracted by the audio.
