24/09 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure wk39
Session: 24/09/2024 07:40 to 11:00hrs
Notes:. It was mostly Blue and Great Tits this session. We are past the peak weeks for Blackcap and Chiffchaff. Nice to ring our 4th Firecrest of the season and another Goldcrest, numbers of the latter should begin to build as visitors from the north move through for the winter.
Present: JL,IW.
Weather: overcast, cool, calm occasional light breeze
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, up from 08:00 to 10:30 hrs.

Lures audio: (Warbler), (Misc Migrants), (RT), (YB) intermittently.

Recaptures: (00) None
Sightings: More thrush activity today but couldn’t ID any winter thrushes, though the number
of Song Thrush and particularly Mistle Thrush indicate incoming birds. It was difficult to get an
accurate count of them as there was a lot of flying about. Can’t remember the last time I saw
a Devil’s Coach Horse (beetle)
